Chris Van Liew is the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer for Seattle University, where he brings a 30-year technology career, including managerial and executive positions for more than 20 years. These leadership positions involved many mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, delivering tens of millions of dollars in technology optimizations and supply chain improvements. In his immediate past position, he served as the Chief Information Officer for Weyerhaeuser, after more than two decades of varied technology roles for the company. At Seattle University, Chris is responsible for technology strategy, project delivery, applications and infrastructure, cybersecurity and many other technical services, is a member of the President’s Cabinet, and was recently appointed vice-chair the Strategic Planning Council. Raised in the Pacific Northwest, Chris holds his B.S. in Business Administration with a Computer Science minor from Oregon State University, and a Leading Operational Excellence Certificate from MIT’s Sloan School of Management. Chris and his wife Deborah have four children, ages 14 to 22, and live in Puyallup.
